Poker Pro Lee Nelson Just Keeps Reaching the Final Tables

Lee Nelson has other interests in life aside from playing poker. This poker professional is also into such things as meditation, doing yoga, swimming, and walking. Nevertheless, these interests do not distract him from playing poker successfully. Despite all the other things that he enjoys doing, Lee Nelson just keeps on reaching final tables every time he joins poker tournaments. And this is the reason why Lee Nelson has been given the nickname "Final Table."

Perhaps, this is because of the fact that he learned how to play the game when he was only five years old. Born in the United States on January 19, 1943, Lee Nelson was already enjoying the game of poker while most five-year-old boys were enjoying toy trucks. Currently residing in Auckland, New Zealand, there was also a point in his life when he was playing poker professionally while he was working as a doctor in New Zealand. But he has already retired and has since then been a more active poker professional.

Lee Nelson has reached approximately fifty final tables of poker events conducted all over the world. Some of these events where a Limit Hold'em game featured at the National Poker Championship on February 14, 2000, wherein he became the second placer and earned US$3,169. Two days later, this poker professional joined the same tournament's Pot Limit Omaha event and ended up as a third placer. In the same year, he also joined the Rat Pack Poker Tournament and the Australasian Poker Championship wherein he also reached the final tables.

In 2001, Lee Nelson joined the Melbourne Summer Holiday Poker Festival and the Australian Championship, wherein he won the third and eighth prize, taking home US$4,921 and US$2,876, respectively. In 2002, this poker professional has also had numerous victories as he reached the final tables of events featured at the Australian Poker Championships, the National Poker Championships, the New Zealand Poker Championships, and the October Tournament.

Lee Nelson has of course also experienced being a first placer a number of times. It was on January 11, 2005 when he won first prize at the 2005 Crown Australian Poker Championship. Two months later, this poker professional won first place at the Irish Open, and one month later, he became the first placer in an event featured at the PartyPoker World Open.

In 2006, Lee Nelson won first place once again at the 2006 Crown Australian Poker Championship. He was also a first place winner at a No Limit Hold'em game conducted during the Grosvenor World Masters tournament in June. And in 2007, this poker professional also ended up as the first prize winner at the New Zealand Poker Championships.

Lee Nelson also co-wrote the book "Kill Phil: The Fast Track to Success in No-Limit Hold'em Poker Tournaments" with his fellow poker professional Blair Rodman. He also co-hosts television programs aired in New Zealand and Australia that feature poker games.
